The 89th Annual Academy Awards were presented last night at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Jimmy Kimmel hosted the show, which saw La La Land‘s record-tying 14 nominations result in 6 wins, including a Best Actress award for Emma Stone and Best Director for Damien Chazelle.

The ceremony also played host to one of the most bizarre and surreal Best Picture announcements of all time, as Moonlight took home the statue after La La Land was mistakenly announced as the winner, thanks to presenter Warren Beatty receiving the incorrect envelope. Here’s the wild sequence of events, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter‘s Twitter feed.
